March Favourites

So it's been a while since I've posted on here. The last couple of months have been a little crazy with uni deadlines, lots going on in media filming and shoot wise, and FINALLY turning the big 2-1! So I thought I would rekindle my blogging love with my March beauty favourites.

Topshop Clueless Lip Crayon
I know I’ve talked about this before but it was a new purchase then. I still think it is the perfect bright pink to brighten up these horrible dull days we’ve been having, and everytime I wear this, it gets so many compliments. Additional bonus, I’ve just gone from mid-blonde to dark brown and it still looks amazing!

Revlon nearly naked foundation in shell 130
I do love a new beauty launch and this foundation is great! It has a buildable medium coverage and I love that it doesn’t hide my freckles but masks dull patches. Seriously it’s great and I would highly recommend it, although perhaps try a sample first if you have quite oily skin as it leaves a slight dewy finish. The only downside to this is that the foundation doesn’t have a pump so you can sometimes pour a little too much out.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balmstain in Romantic
Another Revlon product! I think Revlon have had such a great year in terms of new products. This is the second balmstain I’ve tried from the range and I can’t get enough of them. The sheerness of the balm is actually quite pigmented so the colour pay off is true to how the product looks, and the wear time is a few hours before needing to reapply.

Essie Nails Polishes in Tart Deco (peachy-orange) and Not Just a Pretty Face (nude)
So I’d quite like to know where the sunshine is. I guess we’ll be waiting a while so until then I have been loving on-trend bright colours on my nails to perk up my layers of winter clothes. Essie is slowly becoming one of my favourite nail brands and this peachy-orange colour brings life to fair skin, and I know it will look great with a tan come summer. Now get me on a plane to the Bahamas!

Neal’s Yard Rejuvenating Frankincense Firming Mask
I’d never tried anything from Neal’s Yard until I was given this mask as a gift and I’ve been so impressed with it. I love that it uses organic ingredients and doesn’t contain parabens or silicones so it doesn’t irritate the skin. It says you should wash it off, but I prefer to leave it on and let my skin fully absorb it. It also contains hyaluronic acid which helps skin retain optimum moisture levels and leave you with baby soft skin.

L’Oreal CC cream in Anti-Redness
There’s been some hype about CC creams in the industry for a couple of months now, so when L’Oreal released their CC creams in January I pretty much ran to Boots to try them. Honestly I wasn’t a fan of their Anti-Fatigue one, it was too orange for a cool-toned skin so it may look better on a warm-toned skin. However, the Anti-Redness version is really good. You don’t need a lot, I only use it on my cheeks and around my nose, but the difference a green toned cream makes on redness, is definitely worth the money, saving you from having to build up layers of foundation and concealer.

Benefit Hoola
As I quickly mentioned earlier, I have recently become brunette. After years of being more on the blonde side of ‘bronde’ I took the plunge and went dark. This has been a saviour in my make-up bag, warming up my complexion until the sun finally decides to make an appearance and preventing me from looking a little gothic while the colour still settles. I have loved this bronzer for years and if I had a beauty hall of fame, this would definitely be in it!

Garnier Summer Body
Sensing a theme this month? Hmm so it seems my desire to have a bit of a spring tan has taken over! This builds a light natural looking tan over a couple of days and since I’m not a huge fan of layers of St Tropez this early in the year, it will give me the perfect sun-kissed look for NASTAs (National Student Television Awards) in a couple of days.

Gucci Premiere Perfume
Last but not least my Gucci perfume. This was a Christmas present but for the last couple of weeks I’ve been reaching for this over my other perfumes and I’m loving it. It’s quite a heavy perfume so I wouldn’t recommend going overboard with it for the daytime, but it’s such a great scent for the evening.  Even boys have said ‘oh you smell nice’, which I think is nice as normally (well in my experience) they don’t really notice. Plus the packaging is gorgeous!

I love to know what products other people have been loving and trying, so if there is a product you think everyone needs to know about let me know!

Spring Launches

There’s something about the New Year that makes me want to overhaul my make-up routine and try something new. It’s out with the old and in with the new launches! So here are my top 5 Spring launches in the UK that I recommend keeping an eye out for over the next couple of months.

Lancóme is releasing a limited edition collection entitled ‘In Love’ which boasts the most gorgeous packaging I’ve seen for while. In Love is made up of neon pinks, corals and turquoises to perk up the dull months and complement the summer ahead. Two products I have my eye on are the In Love blusher, which has a fuchsia outer edge and a peachy inner square, which when blended together look like they would make the perfect corally blush. I also love the look of the eye pencil called Jade crush, I have a real thing about jewel toned colours at the moment, and with blue eye make-up is set to be a huge Spring/Summer trend this year I’d put money on it now and say that it will be a sell out. The collection’s campaign is fronted by Emma Watson, which makes me want to try it even more; I had Hermoine’s hair when I was 11, so I feel a sisterly bad-hair bond to the actress.
In Love launches 2nd January and will be available at most Lancóme counters. Prices range from £12-34

Rimmel is a much loved brand amongst beauty lovers everywhere, and this January they are launching a new lip product called Apocalips Lip Lacquer. I haven’t been this excited about a Rimmel launch since Kate Moss announced she was collaborating with the brand to do a range of lipsticks. I had a sneaky look at the Apocalips when I was working at More! a few weeks ago and I can honestly say these are some of the most pigmented glosses on the market. There are eight shades from pretty nudes to show-stopping corals and reds. The consistency is a little thick but the colour lasts for hours and has a great shine, I had colour samples on my hands that took ages to budge.  I think the bright colours such as ‘Big Bang’ (red) and ‘Nova’ (pink) would look great worn with little other make-up, which was a look seen at catwalk shows such as Giles and Burberry.
Acocalips launch on the 23rd January and will priced around £5.99
APOCALIPS now: The new lacquer range includes shades such as the rosy pink Nova, bright red Big Bang and coral pink Stellar

In my opinion Benefit is one of the leading brands when it comes to colour for eyes and cheeks, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard they are launching a new eye palette this Sping. World Famous Neutrals will comprise of two cream based eye shadows and four powder eye shadows in a range of tones. The packaging is what you would expect; pretty, well thought out and looks the perfect addition to any dressing table. It is a little on the pricey side but you are getting six eye colours and when a single eye shadow costs around £14 from Benefit, it is worthwhile and works out just under £4 a colour.
World Famous Neutrals launch in the UK in March and are £23.50

If you haven’t heard about 2012’s BB craze then where have you been! But never fear because there is a new obsession to get on board with for 2013, the CC cream. CC stands for Colour Correcting and the first to launch the skincare that’s been huge in Asia, is L’Oreal. The L’Oreal Nude Magique CC creams serve different purposes depending on what you want to correct on your skin and they all have SPF 12 (added skincare bonus). There are three different creams to choose from; Anti- Redness, Anti-Fatigue and Anti-Dullness. With all my deadlines coming up before Easter I think Anti-Fatigue will be a welcome addition to my beauty desk, and I’ll be first out of the library to see if it lives up to its name!
There hasn’t been an official release date as of yet for the L’Oreal Nude Maguqie CC Creams but I will give you an update!

Clinique’s Chubby Sticks have been a bit of a cult product since they launched a couple of years ago.  However, the wait is nearly over for the follow up. February sees the launch of Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes (quite a long name!) and I’m hoping that they will live up to their hype. In my mind I’m dreaming for the same creaminess as their sister lip colour but with a little more pigmentation. From the pictures I’ve seen I think we’re in for a treat. There is a range of twelve colours to choose from including; Massive Midnight, Portly Plum, Fuller Fudge and Lots o’ Latte. Extra points awarded for the alliterative name.
Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes launch on the 16th February and priced at £16
